Meet porsh

Porsh is a new and emerging, self taught DJ from London, UK. She started teaching herself how to DJ in May 2021 as she wanted to create her own mix of her favourite House music tracks. She primarily learnt by drawing on advice from DJ friends in the London House scene, YouTube videos and watching friends on the decks. After positive feedback on her first mix she continued her journey.

As a raver to Deep/Tech House, she started off playing these sounds that she was familiar with but watching a Black Motion set during the lockdown in 2020 a love for African Electronic Music was formed. It was the track Webaba by Culoe De Song which changed her life. 

After a few months, she curated her first Afro House mix which grabbed the attention of London house brand, Dreamnights who booked her for her first gig. She soon started getting Guest mix opportunities on Radio stations such as Drums Radio and Reprezent as well as regular DJ gigs. 

Porsh has gone from strength to strength playing for some of Londons top brands including The Originals, Release and Cloud X. She states the highlight of her DJ career so far is when she made the final 100 DJs in the Defected Unsung Heroes competition in 2022. In 2023 she released her first track under the All Shades of The Drum label with London Based DJ/Producer DJ IC titled ‘The Future’.   

Each Thursday she hosts her own radio show also titled Tour d’Afrique on Reach LDN radio.  As she continues her journey, she aims to play nationally and Internationally in more spaces dedicated to African Electronic music.

Porsh draws inspiration from many Afro House producers and DJs. She particularly loves to search for ‘hidden gems’ that aren’t widely being played as well as music from newer producers to build her playlists.
